Kris Kristofferson a country music superstar had a rough charisma becoming a A-list Hollywood actor died at age 88 in his home in Maui. During his passing, he was surrounded by family members and cause of death remains undisclosed, where he died peacefully.

A Classic Song-Writer

A Texan born from Brownsville in the late 1960s, Kris Kristofferson wrote songs by conventional standards. Some of his best classics include:

  • Me and Bobby McGee

Although he was a singer, his songs were known to have been performed by others. Kris Kristofferson was known to also recite William Blake from memory. He intertwined lyrics from folk music about loneliness and romance and brought them to light through country music.

He is known to have represented a new class of songwriters with his astonishing looks, bell bottoms and longhair. During his college years he was both a boxer and football player. He received his master’s degree in English from Merton College at the University of Oxford in England. Kristofferson received the opportunity to teach at the United States Military Academy in New York; however he turned down that opportunity to pursue a career in music.

He married his fellow songwriter Rita Coolidge in 1973 and went on to have a successful duet career. They earned themselves two Grammy awards in their time together prior to their divorce in 1980. He retired from music in 2021 and made only occasional guest appearances.
