Dodo: Replicating DNA to bring back extinct Species

Dodo

There is a long standing number of species that have gone extinct centuries ago such as the Dodo, mammoth and Tasmanian tiger. Scientific expects trying to revive them back from extinction with the aid of celebrity funds.

Start up to Raise Funds to Bring Back Extinct Species

The scientific experts will work on the core gene of an extinct animal such as the Dodo and replicate those genes utilising DNA of a similar animal.

The biotech start up Colossal Biosciences in Texas has raised 235 million US Dollars as of now. Celebrities such as Chris Hemsworth and Paris Hilton remain among the top donors.

The chances of a dodo bought back to life that went extinct over 4000 years ago remain high within the next three years. Experts state that all extinct animals are being pursed at once.

The Dodo Extinction

The typical gestation period for the Dodo is one month long. It is an enormous bird which lived in an island in Mauritius died during the 17th Century. The experts remain uncertain pertaining to which of the two species between the Mammoth and the Dodo has a higher chance of being revived again. They aim to bring these species back before 2028.

The closest relative of the Dodo is the Nicobar Pigeon, a grey looking bird with colourful features found in the Indian Islands of Andaman and Nicobar.  The estimated value of this bird is 1.7 billion dollars. In order to launch the Colossal Foundation, the firm has received an additional 50 Million U.S dollars.

It is a non-profit organisation which focuses on much other work such as conservation on risk and endangered animals.

Conclusion

The efforts put in place to revive extinct species depict the advancement in gene technology. Along with sufficient funding, the project strives to bring back animals that went extinct centuries ago.
