The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is looking for an Intermediate Resource Planner to be a part of their team of environmental professionals. The main focus of this role lies in managing natural resources with the watershed of the Grand River.

Job Responsibilities

The Intermediate Resource Planner Job Vacancy put forth by The Grand River Conservation Authority consists of multiple job responsibilities for potential candidates which include:

  • Reviewing and providing the Authority’s position on different planning applications such as:
  • Condominium and subdivision
  • Making amendments to the Site-specific Official Plan and Zoning by-laws
  • Consents small differences and site plans
  • Assessing the environment and other proposals pertaining to development
  • Doing field inspections and conducting meetings that is in relation to applications and inquiries.
  • Under Ontario regulation 41/24 providing positions on applications after reviewing
  • Ensuring all planning deadlines are met up to internal/external standards
  • Preparing and presenting reports, statements and documents
  • In multi-agency committees and council meetings represent the authority
  • Taking part in appeals before the Ontario Land Tribunal when requested
  • Encouraging outreach activities which will aid the health of the Grand River watershed.
  • Be ready to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the job role of an Intermediate Resource Planner these are the requested qualifications which comprise of:

  • Degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Planning or in any relevant discipline
  • A degree in environmental science with planning course work
  • Having one year work experience in relation to the work
  • Being proficient in natural features and earth processes and uses of land, maps and plans
  • Should possess the ability to aid and analyse technical reports
  • Must have a working knowledge pertaining to environmental laws
  • Robust oral and written communication
  • Proficient in working with digital map drawing software’s and Microsoft Office
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Having a valid driver’s license
