The Arab American Institute the executive director Maya Berry appeared as a witness before the senate judiciary committee. In order to raise concerns on spewing political hate crimes. However John Kennedy senator took this as an opportunity to unapologetically further his hate claims.
Hate Crimes Affect all Demographics
Berry was of the view that Jewish and Arab American is victims of hate crimes sharing statistics. She stated how it affects all kinds of demographics such as Black Americans, Asian Americans and members of the LBGTQ community.
John Kennedy senator brutally approached her views attacking her with racists’ remarks. He accused her of supporting terrorists. His offensive remarks highlighted why the panel was necessary and showed how politicians use personal attacks to silence criticism of Israel.

Kennedy shocking stated shouting a Berry, “You can’t bring yourself to say you don’t support UNRWA, you don’t support Hamas, you don’t support Hezbollah and you don’t support Iran,” Kennedy shouted. “You should hide your head in a bag.”
These hate remarks caused for gasps and disapproving cries from the audience in the room on Tuesday.
Maya Berry was call to appear in behalf of civil rights organisation in order to have dialogues pertaining to domestic issues of hate crimes. However the deplorable show put out by Kennedy completely ripped away the purpose of Berry’s appearance. He lacked corporation on the issues she raised and instead put words in her mouth.
